A gravura da Luz foi feita usando o processo de gravação chamado água forte, que é o desenho em linhas sobre uma chapa de cobre preparada com verniz. A chapa foi mergulhada em ácido para que o desenho ficasse gravado permanentemente. Depois ela é entintada e limpa de forma a retirar apenas o excesso de tinta, passando então pela prensa junto com o papel úmido que recebe a imagem espelhada da chapa. As fotos abaixo mostram as várias etapas do processo, do croquis à gravação da chapa.
The Luz (light) etching was drawn on a copper plate, in a process known as etching, that consists in marking (engraving) a copper plate covered in varnish with a sharp tool. The plate is then dived into acid, making the incisions permanent. After that the plate is ready for printing, receiving a good amount of paint and pressed with the paper using a special press. The final image on the paper is the mirrored version of the drawing originally engraved on the copper plate. The pictures below shows some of the steps of the engraving process.
