A gravura do Jardim Secreto foi feita usando um processo de gravação; a água forte, que é o desenho em linhas sobre uma chapa de cobre preparada com verniz. A chapa então foi mergulhada em ácido para que o desenho ficasse gravado permanentemente num processo que recebe o nome de água forte. A chapa então é entintada e limpa de forma a retirar apenas o excesso de tinta, passando então pela prensa junto com o papel úmido que recebe a imagem espelhada da chapa. A segunda imagem mostra isso bem, é o croquis feito antes da gravação.
The Secret Garden was drawn in a copper plate, in a process known as etching, that consists in marking (engraving) a copper plate covered in varnish with a sharp tool. The plate is then dived into acid, making the incisions permanent. After that the plate is ready for printing, receiving a good amount of paint and pressed with the paper using a special press. The final image on the paper is the mirrored version of the drawing originally engraved on the copper plate. You can that on the second image, that is the sketch done prior to the engraving.
