Ilustrações para a sala Amazônia da exposição 100 anos de Paulo Vanzolini, o Cientista Boêmio que acontece no Sesc Ipiranga de 29/08/24 a 16/03/25. Os desenhos integram a instalação imersiva que recria a sensação de caminhar pela floresta, tendo sido aplicados às paredes da sala e impressos em tecidos transparentes pendurados no teto, que ondulam conforme os visitantes passeiam pela sala. A instalação conta ainda com paisagem sonora de André Magalhães e a exposição tem curadoria de Daniela Thomas. O principal desafio deste trabalho foi o tamanho final que as imagens deveriam ter para cobrir toda a extensão da sala, com 28 metros de perímetro, e o prazo apertado para entrega. Para otimizar o trabalho, calculei o menor tamanho que os desenhos poderiam ter para que, escaneados na máxima resolução disponível, pudessem ser ampliados até o tamanho necessário. Isso me levou a um desenho em formato de tira com 150 x 17 cm, feito com nanquim e bico de pena e colorido digitalmente, escaneado a 2400 dpi, resultando no formato final de 28 x 3.15 metros. Illustrations for the Amazonia Room of the exhibition 100 Years of Paulo Vanzolini, the Bohemian Scientist, held by Sesc Ipiranga, in São Paulo, from August 2024 to March 2025. The drawings are part of an immersive installation that tries to recreate the sensation of hiking through the forest, with drawings applied to the surrounding walls and printed onto transparent fabrics, which were hanging from the ceiling and waved and moved while the visitors wandered around the room. The room had also soundscape by André Magalhães and the Exhibition was curated by Daniela Thomas. Special thanks to Stella Tennembaun and Camila Nader, responsible for the design and production, for the invitation.

The main challenge of this job was the final size the production required the drawings to have to encompass the whole 28 meters of the room’s perimeter, plus the short deadline. To optimize the process, I calculated the smallest size the drawings could have to, when scanned at the highest available resolution, would have enough resolution to be printed at the required size. That led me to a 150 x 17 cm strip drawing, made with china ink and a dip pen, that was scanned at 2400 dpi and digitally colored. The final format was then achieved, 28 x 3.15 meters.
